Volunteers needed for Fall PE Bike Unit!
Northrop has a special opportunity to use the MPS Bike Fleet twice this year! We will be biking this fall as well as the last two weeks of the school year. Our bike unit for 4th and 5th graders gets rolling October 15 and will continue as long as the weather allows.
To make this unit a success, we need volunteers to help with each of the classes. You don’t have to know how to ride a bike in order to volunteer as there are many needs, including:
- Unloading & loading the bike trailer
- Getting bikes ready prior to the start of each class
- Tying kids’ shoes
- Helping kids with helmet fitting
- Helping kids with A-B-C Quick checks
- Basic bike maintenance
- Working 1:1 or with small groups of students on various bike skills and drills
- Supporting off-campus group bike rides (bike & helmet required)
Training is provided for all these duties. Please contact Ms. Sarah (Physical Education Teacher) at sarah.tschida@mpls.k12.mn.us if you have any questions or if you're ready to sign-up to help out!
