Meals & Transportation
Information
Meals
Northrop has an on-site meal program. Thanks to Minnesota's universal school meals law, every student receives one complete breakfast and one complete lunch each school day at no cost. Students enter their PIN (Student ID#) to receive their meals.
Menus
Menus, including nutrition facts and allergens, are available on the MPS Culinary & Wellness Services website. It contains a link to the LINQ Connect online menu and PDF versions of the menu that you can print out at home.
Meal Times
Breakfast is served beginning at 8:55am and students are due in class at 9:10am.
Lunch times vary by grade. Students are given 30 minutes for lunch, followed by 30 minutes of recess.
Additional Meals or Items
If your student wants a second meal, just a milk, or à la carte items, they will need money in their account.
Please visit the MPS Culinary & Wellness Services website to see costs for meals or to set up or check the balance on your student's account.
If your family needs support to put money in your child's account or help with food for non-school days, please contact our social worker, Joshua Lang (612-806-8438) .
Transportation
Bussing
MPS offers transportation to students within our attendance zone. To find out more about transportation & bussing, visit the MPS Transportation webpage.
If you have questions about your Northrop bus route, you can reach out to our transportation coordinator, Karl Triebenbach (612-668-4523).
Walking & Biking
Northrop students who walk or bike to school should enter through Door 12 on 44th St. Caregivers indicate whether their student will be picked up from their teacher on the black-top at dismissal or if they can walk/bike home independently.
For students who ride bikes, there are ample bike racks and we encourage students to wear a helmet and lock up their bikes. There is also an outdoor bike repair station by Door 12 if community members need access to tools, including an air pump.
Driving
If you drive and drop off your child at school, please do so on 32nd Ave (by St Helena's Church) and have your child enter through Door 9.
At dismissal, caregivers should park on 32nd Ave. Students can be picked up from their teacher on the black-top.
